Rules

Just so that we are clear

We welcome contributions from our readers, in the form of articles or comments on the content. However, there are people out there who would abuse this website, for whatever reason, so we have to have some rules in place for such contributed content.

The essence of it is:

Contributed content (articles or comments) should be polite, honest, relevant, non-spammy and safe (family-friendly, and ok for your children to see).

Ok, if you want the long version:

  1. Use polite and civil language. Too many other sites accepting user generated content and opinions have threads which descend into unproductive name calling and abuse. If that’s what you want, please go elsewhere. Accept the fact that not everybody will agree with everything you say, and that it is ok to disagree.
  2. Do not post content which you know to be false or misleading. We want the facts. We value the facts over opinions, but your opinion is also welcome. Don’t mix the two up.
  3. Contributions which outline what worked for you are fine, but don’t prescribe or give advice to others, particular medical, care or business advice. Leave that to the professionals. In any case, the editors of this website completely disclaim any and all liability from actions resulting from what people read here. What is right for you to do in your particular situation is not something which a forum such as this can advise on. Consult the appropriate professional who can examine the details of your circumstance and give you appropriate guidance.
  4. Do not post content which is defamatory or which would incite people to hatred or violence. Comment on the post or content, not on the person who wrote it.
  5. Do not think that this is a site where you can say anything that you want. It is a privately owned website. If you want a platform for you to exercise free speech, get your own website.
  6. We welcome article contributions and comments which are on-topic and relevant. The converse is also true.
  7. If you post fraudulent or illegal content, or undertake actions designed to attack, probe or undermine our servers or server security systems, you are likely to face the consequences. We will fully cooperate with the statutory authorities, providing them with whatever information we have about you and your interaction with this website in support of a criminal investigation. So be good.
  8. No spam please. Do not post the same content, or variations of it, multiple times, to the annoyance of the other readers.
  9. Do not post content aimed to advertise a business, product or service or aimed at building back-links to other websites. The editors reserve the right to show some advertisements on the site to help offset hosting costs, however, these will be visually separate from the main site content.
  10. Do not post content of an adult nature, be it in the form of words, images, or links to other websites containing such content.
  11. Moderators may take user-generated content down without notice if, in their opinion, the content violates any of these rules. The ruling of the moderators is final, and the moderators are too busy to get into arguments over why your opinion is right and theirs is wrong etc. They are really working with the best interest of the website and its readers at heart.
